Charities and Not-for-profit organisations

Following the introduction of new accounting standards (the "SORP") by the Charity Commissioners there are an increasing number of charities and not-for-profit organisations who require advice and assistance on how to comply. Changes in accounting, auditing and tax environments, together with the ever-present demands of employment, trusteeship and general charity law are a few examples of the complex regulatory and other potential issues charities face.

Our dedicated charities section currently acts for some 54 charities at both national and local level, including religious communities, clubs, advice bureaux, arts organisations, voluntary associations, student unions and companies limited by guarantee. We offer a sympathetic approach to your charity's aims and objectives and provide a high standard of service at a cost commensurate with the charity's activities and resources.

Our services include:

  • Charity formation
  • Audit or independent examination
  • ESF audits
  • Fund raising or grant applications
  • Advice on such matters as Gift Aid and VAT
  • Providing payroll services
  • Charity Commission enquiries and investigations
  • Trustee guidance

Kevin Parkinson, has extensive experience in the charities and not-for-profit organisations and acts as a voluntary trustee on a number of local charities in the Derby area.
